		<description>Your friend is not the only person making enquiries. The best way to pursue this is by letter. I spoke to HMRC on Monday and they were helpful: the advice for tax and NI was to write to the PAYE office given on your tax coding letter, quoting your NI number and tax coding, explaining the situation (I gave the details of the attempted &quot;bankruptcy&quot; and the link to MinistryofTruth&#039;s excellent blog for the documents) , and asking them to investigate on your behalf. Do the same with the Pensions Board- write in with the details and your pension reference and ask them to investigate.
HMRC were apologetic and said the process is not quick- but they will put an investigator on the case.</description>
