It’s Halloween…what’s new

By asingleblog

Good news – nothing has changed. Good news – shopworkers have to work from memory.  Good news – shops have no broadband. Good news – suppliers can’t be paid because Phil Brewer can not instruct his staff via e-mail about how much money they are allowed to spend (apologies suppliers). Good news – well there can never be good news. Durham staff are supposed to inform Phil Brewer whenever the Dean or cathedral staff visit the shop but they can’t because they have no broadband facilities. Has anything changed since the Brewers fired Carole Burrows? Worse anyone?

And don’t forget to include in the count the new Lay Canon at Durham Cathedral, Paul Chandler, former General Secretary of SPCK.

I think Durham may need to check the effectiveness of its gargoyles. Gargoyle are “guardians of the buildings they were on and kept evil spirits away. Thus the faithful had no need to fear any evil spirit and could even laugh at it with impunity.” When it comes to the bookshop they, and those on other church buildings used by SSG (such as Chichester) appear to be faulty.

I agree Phelim. John Northam isn’t faulty though. He raised his head above the parapet and gave us the latest on the situation about Data Protection. It’s on the spckssg blog.

We just need someone to speak out from “within the loop” to let us know what is going on! Lets think who do we like to hear from, just one or two people/situations. Durham Cathedral, SPCK (re the Exter shop situation), the industrial tribunial process, Randy Williams ………

John Northam, was doing what the Brewers told him to do. and we must admire him for telling the truth.,something the Brewers have never done, lets hope John can tell us more im sure he will.

Valiant for Truth, That is very interesting news about Paul Chandler, former General Secretary becoming a new Lay Canon at Durham Cathedral. I remember when I first started SPCK, he would have a little chat with new members of staff, ask if you were happy, you felt part of a bigger family. Happy Days!

Yes, Phelim – agreed! And it would be nice to hear from the Church of England Pensions Board and/or USDAW about whether pension contributions and AVC’s have been traced as that might also reveal interesting audit trails.
